Club Activities

Monthly general meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month except for July and August. These meetings are open to the public!

We also organize an impressive number of other activities such as educational seminars, public outreach events, as well as group observing sessions throughout the year.

Our club has received a LX200 8" from an anonymous donor!

We've all heard the "baby in a basket" story. Well, one of our members (Bert) visited the observatory a few weeks ago and found a LX200 telescope in the driveway. It had a note saying that it was being donated.

The hand controller needs some work but the optics are in pristine condition.

Thank You Anonymous!

We encourage people of any age to apply for membership. It's good, wholesome fun for the whole family!

The RASC Hamilton Centre is an Amateur Astronomy Club that is part of the National organization called the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada (RASC). The RASC has 29 centres across Canada. Our particular club has members from Mississauga in the east through Brantford in the west, Georgetown in the north, and San Pedro de Atacama in Chile!

The Hamilton Centre is unique in that it has one of the best equipped observatories in Canada. Our Centre was founded in 1908.

There are several classes of membership, each with a range of included benefits.

Full annual membership is $83, and it includes membership in the RASC, access to club facilities and equipment, a subscription to SkyNews Magazine and the Observer's Handbook. Youth memberships are also available (age 21 and under) and annual membership is only $ 41.00.

Associate membership is $30. People applying for an associate membership generally belong to other astronomy clubs, and wish to received local centre benefits, but cannot participate in national society activities nor do they receive national society benefits unless they have Membership in another RASC Centre.
